Assam will meet Gujarat in a third-round Group A game of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 at the KL Saini Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday, December 26, 2024. (More Cricket News)

Gujarat are placed second in the group as of now with eight points, after registering back-to-back wins over Haryana (by seven wickets) and Uttarakhand (by five runs). Assam, on the other hand, are fifth in Group A currently with four points. They lost to Jharkhand by seven wickets in their opener before beating Odisha by five wickets.

The tournament comes with additional significance this time around as the ICC Champions Trophy is less than two months away. While most of the Indian squad picks itself, there are still places up for grabs and a strong showing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy will put players in good stead ahead of the team selection. India last played an ODI series in July this year and thus, the tournament will play a key role for players on the fringe of the Indian side.
